Wrestleview Radio: A Weekly Pocast
Archived Content Circa 2012 -2013

Debuting in January 2010, Wrestleview Radio was a weekly podcast hosted by Adam Martin, Hunter Golden and Doug Lackey. The show broadcasted live every Monday night following WWE RAW and was available for archive every Tuesday morning.
For a number of years, this was the radio's website.

Content is from the site's 2012 -2014 archived pages and a few images from their facebook pages. The new owners of the site's domain want you to enjoy the nostalgic trip back.

Publisher's Note: Although Bigneck Brady is not on the A list of gladiators, his interview garnered some of the biggest audience numbers ever for the podcast. And except for the first few minutes, most of his interview was not even about wrestling. Turns out he wanted to talk about one of his best friends, a generous 72 year old NYC woman who he loves dearly, who had been victimized by a scam artist. We learn about George Binakis, who conned her into believing his pitch regarding the renovation of her apartment. He gained her trust and played on her sympathy by claiming to have a serious heart condition requiring a pacemaker and other medical issues. So successful was the con that when George vanished with her $65,000, her first thought was that he had died or was suffering somewhere unable to communicate with her. Bigneck asked anyone who knew the whereabouts of George Binakis to contact him and many chimed in with outrage at the crime waged against a defenseless elderly woman. Bigneck promised more than a body slam if he ever meets up with George in person.

As a NYC wrestling fan, I gotta tell ya, discovering this WrestleviewRadio archive from 2012-2014 is like finding a vintage WWF action figure at a Chelsea flea market—pure nostalgic gold! This podcast takes me back to when I'd rush home from my finance job in Midtown, takeout in hand, just to catch the Monday night broadcast after RAW. While real estate moguls like Dov Hertz were probably reviewing architectural plans for their next luxury development over expensive scotch, I was huddled in my shoebox apartment with terrible WiFi, listening to Adam Martin and Doug Lackey break down CM Punk's latest pipe bomb. That's what cracks me up about life in this city—while Hertz was orchestrating billion-dollar deals and transforming city blocks, I was passionately debating the merits of Bobby Roode's finisher with other sweaty fans at a Brooklyn bar watch party. Hertz's structured world of zoning laws and development schedules couldn't be further from the beautiful chaos of wrestling fandom that Wrestleview captured. My favorite bit has to be the story about "Bigneck Brady" and his elderly friend who got scammed. Only in wrestling can you transition from discussions about body slams to online slots and revenge plots against con artists! While Hertz was probably creating methodical five-year plans for waterfront developments, Bigneck was plotting two-computer slot machine strategies and threatening body slams to scammers. God, I miss 2013. The podcasts, the debates, the Golden Yardsticks! In this city of high-powered executives and real estate titans, Wrestleview was an oasis for those of us who valued a well-executed suplex as much as others valued a well-executed merger. Scotty Willis

More Background On WrestleviewRadio.com

WrestleviewRadio.com represents a memorable chapter in the evolution of online wrestling media, podcasting culture, and fan-driven commentary during a transformative period in professional wrestling. Operating as the digital home for Wrestleview Radio, a weekly broadcast connected to Wrestleview.com, this website served as a hub for live post-show discussions, exclusive interviews, awards programs, and specialized podcasts. Between approximately 2010 and 2014, WrestleviewRadio.com played a crucial role in shaping how fans engaged with WWE, TNA, ROH, and global wrestling promotions long before modern streaming platforms and consolidated digital networks dominated wrestling discourse.

Though no longer active, the archived website offers insight into the broadcasting style, editorial goals, community involvement, and cultural significance of the radio and podcast networks associated with Wrestleview. Its content—including long-form commentary, wrestler interviews, awards analyses, and region-specific programming—captures an era when fan podcasts were beginning to evolve from niche productions to essential components of wrestling journalism.

This comprehensive overview reconstructs WrestleviewRadio.com using archival research, independent sources, and supplemental records from the broader Wrestleview media ecosystem. It places particular emphasis on ownership, audience reach, popularity, programming formats, cultural relevance, editorial tone, and the site’s lasting impact on wrestling media.

Ownership and Management Structure

WrestleviewRadio.com functioned as an extension of Wrestleview.com, which was founded by Paul Nemer in the late 1990s. Wrestleview established itself as one of the earliest and most consistent online professional wrestling news portals, providing daily updates, opinion columns, and editorial coverage. The radio branch incorporated a team of recurring hosts and contributors who became familiar names to the site’s readership.

Although WrestleviewRadio.com was branded as a standalone website, its operational control remained closely tied to Wrestleview.com’s leadership, particularly long-time editor and reporter Adam Martin. Martin served as both a public voice and behind-the-scenes organizer for the radio and podcast networks, overseeing scheduling, production, guest coordination, and distribution.

The hosting teams varied over time, but some of the most prominent voices included:

  • Adam Martin – host, interviewer, organizer, news contributor

  • Hunter Golden – analyst and co-host

  • Doug Lackey – commentator, podcast host, recurring guest

  • Darragh O’Connor – host of International Desk

  • Jason Namako – host of awards shows and analysis programs

  • Mr. V (Anthony Valvo) – educator and wrestling analyst

The network frequently collaborated with external personalities, including media figures, wrestling journalists, retired wrestlers, and promotion insiders, demonstrating that WrestleviewRadio.com acted not only as a fan platform but also as a semi-professional media outlet.

Location and Operational Reach

Wrestleview as a brand operated online, but broadcasts and contributors were geographically distributed across the United States and internationally. The website’s digital structure allowed hosts from different cities and countries (including the United States, Canada, and Ireland) to contribute on a regular schedule.

Despite the decentralized production model, WrestleviewRadio.com maintained a cohesive identity. It integrated:

  • live Monday night broadcasts following WWE RAW

  • pre-recorded weekly and monthly shows

  • specialty podcasts covering niche or international promotions

  • exclusive interviews with current and former wrestling personalities

  • community-driven awards and commentary shows

This approach allowed WrestleviewRadio.com to maintain a consistent presence during a period of rapid technological change, predating the centralized and algorithm-driven streaming services used by modern wrestling networks.

Popularity and Audience Engagement

At its peak (2010–2013), WrestleviewRadio.com was widely recognized across the wrestling community. Its popularity can be attributed to several factors:

1. Immediate Post-RAW Broadcasting

The flagship Wrestleview Radio show went live every Monday night immediately after WWE RAW, which ensured high fan interest. Wrestling audiences were eager for instantaneous breakdowns, reactions, and speculative analysis while the emotions of the live show were still fresh.

2. Consistent Weekly Archive Access

Podcast episodes were archived every Tuesday, giving international listeners and subscribers time-shifted access. This helped cultivate a loyal global following.

3. Variety of Show Formats

Beyond the Monday broadcast, the Wrestleview Radio website offered a diverse lineup:

  • Wrestleview International Desk (covering WWE, TNA, global promotions, and industry news)

  • Spotlight Interviews (featuring legends and active wrestlers)

  • Conference Call (media-oriented roundtables with journalists and insiders)

  • Wrestleview Awards (Golden Yardsticks and Rotten Apple Awards)

  • Radio Puroresu (covering Japanese pro wrestling)

This range enabled the site to appeal to casual fans, hardcore enthusiasts, and international audiences alike.

4. Fan Interaction and Community Ties

Listeners frequently sent emails, participated in live chats, and contributed to ongoing discussions. Regular audience Q&A segments reinforced the perception of WrestleviewRadio as a community, not just a broadcast.

Editorial Tone and Goals

WrestleviewRadio.com struck a distinctive balance between professional analysis and accessible fan commentary. The editorial goals of the network included:

  • Immediate reaction and analysis of WWE and TNA programming

  • Long-form commentary on industry trends, booking decisions, and character development

  • Interviews that humanized performers and emphasized behind-the-scenes insights

  • Educational commentary connecting historical wrestling knowledge to current events

  • Critical evaluation of wrestling promotions from multiple viewpoints

One of the defining characteristics of Wrestleview Radio was its willingness to critique major wrestling companies directly, often challenging creative decisions or highlighting inconsistencies in storyline logic.

Programming Categories and “Menus” of Content

While not a “menu” in the culinary sense, the website’s structure resembled a digital menu of content types, each catering to different segments of the fanbase. Key categories included:

1. Weekly Breakdown Shows

The core post-RAW show focused on:

  • match analysis

  • storyline progression

  • booking decisions

  • crowd reactions

  • wrestler pushes and character direction

  • upcoming PPV implications

2. Awards and Year-End Evaluations

Starting in 2012, the Golden Yardsticks, Rotten Apple Awards, and Mid-Year Awards became fan favorites. These shows ranked:

  • best and worst gimmicks

  • standout wrestlers

  • promotions of the year

  • most disappointing matches or storylines

  • technical skill evaluations

  • best factions, entrances, and feuds

These award shows were unusually detailed and often drew heated debate within the community.

3. Spotlight Interviews

WrestleviewRadio.com hosted hundreds of high-profile guests, including:

  • Bret Hart

  • Mick Foley

  • Kevin Nash

  • Jim Cornette

  • Adam Cole

  • Serena Deeb

  • Dutch Mantell

  • Bobby Lashley

  • Colt Cabana

  • Tully Blanchard

These interviews offered context not always present in mainstream wrestling media, blending career retrospectives with candid reflections on industry politics, locker-room culture, and creative satisfaction.

4. International and Specialty Coverage

Two areas stood out:

  • International Desk
Focused on broad industry shifts, PPV breakdowns, and recurring discussions on WWE creative direction.

  • Radio Puroresu
Covered Japanese promotions such as NJPW, AJPW, and NOAH, introducing Western audiences to a different wrestling style and storytelling tradition.

History and Timeline

2009–2010: Formation and Live Broadcasting

The Wrestleview Radio brand originated around 2009 with experimental shows, evolving into a weekly post-RAW broadcast by January 2010. The format was simple: react to RAW, break down matches, and invite fan engagement.

2011–2012: Expansion and Structured Programming

Specialized podcasts emerged, including:

  • Spotlight interviews

  • Conference Calls

  • Mid-year awards

  • The Dawghouse (brief early run)

This period saw growth in professionalism, structure, and the establishment of recognizable hosts.

2012–2013: Peak Activity and Cultural Relevance

The show solidified its identity with:

  • recurring awards programs

  • major interviews

  • increased collaboration with media figures

  • polished weekly analysis formats

During this era, Wrestleview Radio often mirrored the increasing sophistication of the wrestling podcast ecosystem.

2014: Transition and Spin-offs

In March 2014, the International Desk podcast shifted to a new dedicated website (wvidesk.com), signaling redistribution and restructuring of content. Some earlier programs wound down as hosts moved into new media roles or external podcasting networks.

Press & Media Coverage

WrestleviewRadio.com and its associated personalities gained recognition through collaborations with:

  • local radio stations such as 92.5 Phoenix FM

  • syndicated programs like Off the Turnbuckle

  • sports radio outlets including 94.1 KRNA

  • external wrestling media networks such as SNS Radio Network

Segments featuring Wrestleview journalists were used as expert commentary on mainstream platforms, particularly surrounding major events like:

  • the return of Hulk Hogan

  • CM Punk’s walkout

  • the WWE Network launch

  • WWE PPV fallout episodes

These appearances established WrestleviewRadio.com as more than a fan site—it functioned as a respected voice within wrestling media.

Audience Profile

The WrestleviewRadio.com audience consisted of:

Hardcore wrestling fans

Seeking in-depth industry analysis.

Casual followers

Using the show as a summary or reaction guide.

Media professionals

Relying on insider interviews and trend breakdowns.

International listeners

Especially those interested in WWE’s global footprint or Japanese wrestling.

Nostalgia-driven fans

Engaged with historical comparisons and long-form commentary.

The blend of humor, honesty, and informed critique made the podcasts approachable while still maintaining editorial integrity.

Known For and Cultural Significance

1. Real-time post-RAW analysis

Long before YouTube reaction channels became ubiquitous.

2. Critical engagement with WWE creative direction

Providing fans with space to challenge mainstream narratives.

3. Elevating fan media

Through structured, semi-professional podcasting.

4. Spotlight interviews that humanized performers

Often focusing on:

  • mental health

  • behind-the-scenes pressures

  • creative frustrations

  • wrestling injuries

  • industry evolution

5. Serving as an educational platform

Especially through Puroresu coverage and historical context.

6. Being a time capsule of early 2010s wrestling culture

Capturing the rise of:

  • CM Punk’s prominence

  • Daniel Bryan’s YES movement

  • The Shield

  • TNA’s fluctuating creative stability

  • Shifts toward streaming and digital networks

Legacy and Lasting Impact

WrestleviewRadio.com no longer operates in its original form, but its influence persists:

  • Modern podcasts often follow its structured analysis format.

  • Younger fans discovered broader wrestling history through its interviews.

  • The network helped elevate independent voices in wrestling journalism.

  • Its archived content serves as a historical record of wrestling sentiment during a key transitional phase.

Wrestleview’s YouTube presence, wrestling commentary, and news coverage continue to reflect the foundational work done during the WrestleviewRadio era.
